Watch Dragon Ball in order to watch Dragon Ball Z
Main Post:
As the title suggests, in order to watch Dragon Ball Z do I absolutely need to watch the original Dragon Ball show? I am fairly new to anime and was curious.
Edit: I watch dubbed and have asked some friends this question but they didn’t really answer my question so I figured I would ask a broader audience.
Top Comment: Of course you do. Dragon Ball Z is just Chapter 195 and on of Dragon Ball.

Top Comment: Why would I watch AD ridden TV when I can stream it, in higher quality, ad free on my computer? And if I want to have more variety, YouTube has a video for just about anything.

Optimal intertwined watch order of the original Dragon Ball Z and DB Kai?
Main Post:
Me and an acquaintance are going to watch a dub of DBZ in a couple of months. I have seen the original falcouner dub in its entirety, and he has seen none of it. Originally we were just going to watch Kai, but after comparing the two, the delivery of the dub dwarfed that of Kai’s (specifically trunks trying to destroy gero’s lab)
Is there an optimal order to get the best of both worlds in this situation? Is getting the brisk pacing of Kai, and the best moments and good fillers of Z possible?
I’ve done this to a very minor degree already myself. I got tired of the 4 hour Frieza fight on Namek and decided to switch to Kai. Once the Namek arc was over I switched back to Z. I was overjoyed with this decision, and I think it would be great if I could extrapolate this to the whole show, and give a newcomer the best possible experience with Dragon Ball Z.
Maybe the easiest way to start is by identifying the slowest parts of original Dragon Ball Z, like most of Namek? Or maybe go by fight by fight basis? I don’t really know where to start.

Apocalypse Z
Main Post:
Haven’t seen this posted so figured I’d let you folks know about this. Came out yesterday (October 31st) originally in Spanish and based off the book Apocalypse Z.
I was listening to the audiobook of it a while ago and unfortunately never finished it but it was a very good read/listen. First 20 minutes of the movie seem decent, some diversions from the book however.
Top Comment: Somebody else had posted about it a couple weeks ago but thank you for adding the poster they had the release date. This weekend is shaping up to be a full weekend of zombie entertainment!
